Cellular crosstalk regulates the aqueous humor outflow pathway and provides new targets for glaucoma therapies

ABSTRACT: Angiopoietin-1 signaling is essential for development of Schlemm's canal, a large lymphatic-like endothelial vessel in the iridocorneal angle. Single cell RNA sequencing is a powerful tool allowing for examination of the specific transcriptome of each cell type within a tissue. Here, we used single cell RNA sequencing to examin the structures of the mouse iridocorneal angle, using loss of Schlemm's canal in neural-crest specific Angpt1 knockout mice to aid in identification of Schlemm's canal endothelial cells. This dataset provides a resource for analysis of trabecular meshwork / Schlemm's canal crosstalk and the role(s) of Angpt1 in formation of the iridocorneal angle.
