Intelectin-1 binds a select group of bacteria and regulates mucus thickness promoting colitis

ABSTRACT: We report that ITLN1 production is induced by ER stress in IBD, binds to A. muciniphila, regulates mucus thickness, promoting barrier breach and inflammation. RNAseq analysis indicated transcriptional regulation of Itln1 by Xbp1.
