Redox-associated miRNAs regulated by anti-TNBC compounds DET and DETD-35 in MDA-MB-231 cells

ABSTRACT: Triple-negative breast cancer is a difficult breast cancer subtype to treat that lacks targeted therapies. Specific miRNAs have been reported to be involved in cancer progression and their significance in cancer diagnosis and anti-cancer drug development has been highlighted; however, whether redox-associated miRNAs are potential targets of anti-cancer drugs or bioactive phytocompounds, which deregulate cancer cell activity through modulating ROS dynamics is unclear. This study addressed the anti-TNBC cell effect of phytosesquiterpene lactones deoxyelephantopin (DET) and its derivative DETD-35 by which redox-associated miRNAs were responsive and regulated as demonstrated by comparative miRNA microarray analysis and ROS scavenging approaches.
