Evaluation of gene expression changes in Candida albicans biofilms for wild-type SC5314 and stp2Δ at three time points (8 h, 24 h, 48 h) under normoxia and hypoxia.


ABSTRACT: The regulatory mechanisms during biofilm aging were determined using RNA-seq of C. albicans biofilms from three time points. The role of oxygen was investigated by comparing normoxic and hypoxic grown biofilms. Since nutrient uptake is important during biofilm maturation, the transcriptome of a stp2Δ strain lacking proper amino acid uptake was compared to the wild-type parent strain.
