Differentially expressed lncRNAs profile between ischemic stroke patients and non-stroke patients in South China

ABSTRACT: To evaluate lncRNA expression and changes in whole blood samples of patients during the acute cerebral ischemia phase, we have employed whole genome microarray expression profiling as a discovery platform to identify dysregulated genes to put forth predicted connections and functions of the differentially expressed lncRNAs.There were 1123 differentially expressed lncRNAs (Fold change ≥2.0, p<0.05) between stroke patients and the control group. Among these, 371 lncRNAs were upregulated, and 752 lncRNAs were downregulated. Expression of nine lncRNAs (ENST00000452599, ENST00000527450, ENST00000608826, T013651, T029143, T131416, T294865, ENST00000530525 and T058035) from this signature was quantified in the same RNA samples by real-time PCR, confirming our gene chip performance.

Epigenome analysis of ischemic stroke patients

Targeted microarray analysis of three symbiotic cyanobacterial diazotroph strains in the South China Sea

Project description:We designed a new specific mRNA microarray targeting a subset of genes (748) of the diazotrophs Richelia intracellularis and Calothrix rhizosoleniae (genomes RintRC01, RintHH01, RintHM01 and CalSC01) which associate with diatom hosts. The aim was to be able to describe the gene expressions of genes related to several metabolic pathways and how they possibly differed between the closely related strains based on environment and host association. To better understand how the different environments might affect gene expressions, the samples were taken in depth profiles, at night and day, during a cruise in the South China Sea.

Microarray analysis of long noncoding RNA expression profile in pORF5-transfected HeLa cells

Project description:Numerous studies have provided evidence for the involvement of lncRNAs in bacterial infections, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Helicobacter pylori, Listeria monocytogenes, and so forth. However, few studies have evaluated the alternation of lncRNAs in obligate intracellular bacterium C. trachomatis.The molecular mechanisms underlying pathogenesis of C. trachomatis are still elusive, and lncRNAs may provide new insights into the potential mechanisms. pORF5 (Accession number: NP_040384) is the only secreted protein in eight plasmid-encoded proteins in C. trachomatis. Our previous studies also verified that pORF5 influenced the expression of host proteins.Here, we performed a microarray analysis to detect the global lncRNAs and mRNAs expression in pORF5-transfected HeLa cells, and tried to identify pORF5-related lncRNAs. Our study may help to understand the interplay between lncRNAs and coding genes anticipated in the pathogenesis of C. trachomatis.
