Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells integrate microbial signals to promote gut tissue repair
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This study examines how bone marrow (BM)-resident hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) are activated by bacterial insults for lineage specification to replenish the host hemato-immune system. We use the dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) colitis model to cause acute gut inflammation and observe molecular changes that occur in MPP2s, which expand both in the BM and MLN upon DSS treatment.
