Nematode-induced morphological differentiation regulated by the histone H3K4 methyltransferase AoSET1 in nematode-trapping fungus Arthrobotrys oligospora

ABSTRACT: AobZip129 is a bZip transcription factor gene,it affects the formation of adhesive networks and pathogenicity in Arthrobotrys ligospora. We analyzed global gene expression in the WT and AobZip129 strains grown in WA medium and further induced by NE for 24h when the traps began to form. Compared with the AobZip129 and WT strains grown in WA, we detected 1,542 and 1,271 genes were up- and down-regulated (1.5-fold change), respectively. Similarly, 256 and 327 genes (1.5-fold change) were up- and down-regulated in the AobZip129 NE-induced culture in comparison to their expression in WT NE-induced culture. KEGG enrichment analysis revealed that some of the AobZip129-dependent up-regulated genes were overrepresented in the categories of “proteasome”, “starch and sucrose metabolism”, “peroxisome”, “starch and sucrose metabolism”, and “phagosome”. By contrast, the putative AobZip129-dependent down-regulated genes were involved in “Ribosome biogenesis in eukaryotes”, “purine metabolism”, “citrate cycle (TCA cycle)”, “pyrimidine metabolism”, and “protein proceeding in endoplasmic reticulum”.
