Transcriptomic effects of an o2-sensing diguanylate cyclase in the phytopathogen Pectobacterium carotovorum
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The transcriptinal effect of the diguanylate cyclase domain-containing globin coupled oxygen senor protein PccDgcO was examined in Pectobacterium carotovrum bacteruia grown aerobically and anaerobically. RNA sequencing and differential expression analysis showed that PccDgcO plays a role in transisitioning from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism, and controls various functions, such as metal homeostasis, virulence factor expression, bacterial communication, and motility. inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry revealed decreased cellular concentrations of 6 important metals in the PccDgcO deletion strain, showing that globin coupled sensors can affect cellular metal homeostasis.
