ABSTRACT: Skin aging is a complex biological process that is influenced by multiple factors, including environmental and genetic factors. Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation can cause short-term sun damage, such as erythema and edema, as well as chronic damage, which accelerates skin aging and produces skin wrinkles and skin laxity. Salvianolic acid B (Sal-B) is the most abundant and bioactive water-soluble extractant from the well-known herbal medicine--Salvia Miltiorrhiza in Chinese traditional medicine. Many studies have found that Sal-B exerts powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, we speculate that salvianolic acid B may have potential therapeutic value in the aspect of anti-photoaging.
