Gene expression profiles of irradiated lung tissue in three mouse strains

Project description:The aim of our research is to clarify the mechanisms generating heterogeneity in response to C-ion irradiation that arise from individual genetic variations in humans. In this study, we performed whole lung C-ion irradiation using three different strains of mice to examine whether strain-dependent differences in radiation effects occur in high-LET C-ion thoracic irradiation. Murine strain-variance was evaluated by histopathological examination of intra-alveolar hemorrhage that is likely to occur during the early phase after irradiation, and of lung fibrosis during the late phase, occurring more than three months after irradiation. We also performed microarray analysis to identify the key genes that are differentially regulated in different mouse strains after C-ion irradiation and to determine the mechanism of strain-dependent pulmonary damage after high-LET C-ion irradiation.

Baseline hepatic mRNA expression in three zebrafish strains

Project description:Strains of commonly used wildtype zebrafish (Danio rerio) have both shared and unique genomic features such as SNPs and copy number variants. Unfortunately, exact lab strains are often unreported in the literature and the replication of studies in zebrafish may be negatively impacted by this fact. These data were collected to assess hepatic mRNA expression patterns between three common zebrafish strains (AB, Tuebingen, and WIK) to establish baseline differences across strains and between sexes.Baseline mRNA expression was analyzed in six individuals pers strain (three males and three females) using Agilent 4x44K gene expression microarrays . These data highlight the complexity of variation that exists within zebrafish and underscore the value of this model system as a valid representation of normal variation present in other species, including humans.

Project description:Rice dwarf virus (RDV) is the causal agent of rice dwarf disease which causes severe loss of rice yield in northern Asia countries. The disease symptoms are stunting of plant growth, chlorosis specks on leaves, and delayed and incomplete panicle exertion. Symptom severity was different among three strains (RDV-O, –D84, and -S), and was in the rank order RDV-O < -D84, < -S. In this study, we have analyzed the relationship between symptom severity and host gene responses by the gene expression analysis through the 60-mer oligo microarray. We performed high-throughput sequencing of RNA isolated from wild-type, mmi1(W112A) mutant, erh1∆, and mmi1∆ strains. We find that mmi1(W112A) and erh1∆ derepress a shared subset of mmi1-repressed genes during vegetative growth.
