The Neuronal CCAAT/enhancer binding protein α mediates HIF-1α-induced inflammatory brain damage after ischemia
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Through transcriptome analysis, we uncovered 3 modules correlated with specific stages/time frames after photothrombotic ischemia. Then, 3 modules were identified by hub gene network analysis in combination with biological function analysis and KEGG pathway analysis. Among these 3 modules, the E-module hubs, the G-module hubs, and the I-module hubs contained genes correlated with the chemotaxis, the cell cycle and mitosis or the immune response/inflammation, respectively. Evidence shows that CCAAT/enhancer binding protein α (C/EBP-α)-induced inflammation has been linked to ischemic stroke. More interestingly, CEBPA, which encodes C/EBP-α, was shown to be one of the hub genes associated with the immune response/inflammation, which prompted us to carry out a more detailed investigation in this study. Here, we investigate the potential mechanism underlying the action of C/EBP-α in the etiology of ischemic brain injury.
