Azoxy compounds are a distinctive group of bioactive secondary metabolites characterized by a unique RN═N<sup>+</sup>(O<sup>-</sup>)R moiety. The azoxy moiety is present in various classes of metabolites that exhibit various biological activities. The enzymatic mechanisms underlying azoxy bond formation remain enigmatic.
