A novel mechanism for NF-kB activation via IkB aggregation


ABSTRACT: Proteins which interact with IkBa in insoluble aggregates known as Mallory-Denk bodies were characterized by AP-MS, Biotinylation by antibody recognition (BAR), and LCMS analysis of detergent solubalized aggregates. See the supplementary table (S12) for file annotation.

Mallory-Denk-bodies (MDBs) are hepatic protein aggregates associated with inflammation both clinically and in MDB-inducing models. Similar protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases also triggers inflammation and NF-κB activation. However, the precise mechanism that links protein aggregation to NF-κB-activation and inflammatory response remains unclear.
