Antigenic variation in recrudescent Plasmodium chabaudi infection

Project description:The aim of this study is to look at antigenic variation in recrudescent Plasmodium chabaudi infections and to identify the genes, if any, which allow the parasite to avoid the acquired immune response during recrudescence. This has been done in collaboration with Jean Langhorne at NIMR whose group performed the mouse work and extracted the RNA. This data is part of a pre-publication release. Simultaneous host parasite RNA sequencing of rodent malaria infection time course

Project description:We have shown previously (Reid & Berriman, NAR, 2012) that by simultaneously examining host and parasite gene expression over the course of infection we can determine pairs of genes involved in host-parasite interaction. Here we are producing a high quality dataset which will specifically allow us to exploit this finding to identify genes involved in malaria host-parasite interaction. Project description:Human NT2- cells differentiate in vitro into NT2N neurons in the presence of retinoic acid, and culture in the presence of mitosis inhibitors. We have previously observed the presence of the Lewisx determinant exclusively in NT2N neurons but not in NT2- cells. We also obtained evidence that Lex is synthesized in these cells by FUT9 (Brito,...,Costa (2007) J. Neurosci. Res. 85, 1260).

Project description:The expression of La protein in A2780 ovarian cells was interfered by Lentivirus. In order to research the effect of La RNA interference on the expression of proteins in ovarian cancer A2780 cells, proteomic analysis conducted by TMT labeling and MS analysis was done in interference group (KD1) group and control group (NC) with 5 biological replicates in each group.
