In this study, transcriptome responses to the virus were examined in vitro in Atlantic salmon head kidney cells culture (ASK). Poly(I:C), synthetic double-stranded RNA stimulating antiviral responses was used as a positive control.
Project description:Farmed and wild Atlantic salmon was given either vegetable oil (low DHA and EPA) feed or fish oil (high in DHA and EPA) feed or phospholipid (high in phospholipid) feed from start of feeding. We sampled and RNAseq two tissues (pyloric caeca and liver) on day 0, day 48, day 65 and day 94 after initial feeding.

Project description:The present work characterizes the response of co-habited Atlantic (Salmo salar), chum (Oncorhynchus keta) and pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) to sea lice infections. Atlantic and pink salmon anterior kidney samples were profiled at three time points over nine days after the start of an experimental infection. Chum salmon anterior kidney was profiled at day six post infection only. All three species were also profiled at six days post exposure for skin responses of the pectoral fin, typically associated with lice infection.
Project description:This study compares the transcriptomes of wild (Figgjo) and domesticated (Mowi) Atlantic salmon embryos, employing a custom 44k oligonucleotide microarray to identify gene pathways perturbed between wild and domesticated strains and with the aid of heir reciprocal hybrids, to examine the heritability of differentially expressed genes.
