Project description:The goal of the current study is to know the possible molecular mechanism of the effects of 60Co radiation stress when eggs of Z. cucurbitae were exposed to the radiation dose of 50 Gy. A comparative transcriptome analysis was performed to investigate the global gene expression changes in 3rd instar of Z. cucurbitae emerged from the irradiated eggs. Hence we described the Transcriptome of Z. cucurbitae using Illumina Hiseq 4000 platform. To identify the DEGs between irradiated and non-irradiated flies, we performed a DGE (Digital Gene Expression) analysis in the non-irradiated group and compared this analysis with flies after the irradiation. This approach was a shortcut to identify the genes involved in the irradiation-induced developmental defects and growth regulation in Z. cucurbitae. Based on searches against databases, deferentially expressed genes (DEGs) were classified and enriched in different functional categories and pathways.
Project description:Functional studies of the genes associated with development and reproduction during different life stages are limited in Zeugodacus cucurbitae. There have yet to be comprehensive transcriptomic resources for genetic and functional genomic studies to identify the molecular mechanisms related to its development and reproduction.
