Pepper stamen LC-MSMS - Proteomic analysis reveals strong mitochondrial involvement in cytoplasmic male sterility of pepper (Capsicum annuum L

ABSTRACT: We used a high-throughput proteomics method called label-free to compare protein abundance across a pepper CMS line and its isogenic maintainer line. This study explained the mechanisms of cytoplasmic male sterility and contribute to the improvement of pepper hybrid breeding.

Although cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) is widely used for developing pepper hybrids, its molecular mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we used a high-throughput proteomics method called label-free to compare protein abundance across a pepper CMS line (A-line) and its isogenic maintainer line (B-line). Data are available via ProteomeXchange with identifier PXD006104. Approximately 324 differentially abundant protein species were identified and quantified; among which, 47 were up-accumula  ...[more]
