Brown adipose tissue (BAT) dissipates energy<sup>1,2</sup> and promotes cardiometabolic health<sup>3</sup>. Loss of BAT during obesity and ageing is a principal hurdle for BAT-centred obesity therapies, but not much is known about BAT apoptosis.
