Tandem mass spectrometry proteotyping of extremophiles sampled from high-altitude Andean lakes


ABSTRACT: The proteome of the SS13 isolate assigned to the Chromatiaceae family was assessed by shotgun proteomics using a pan-proteomics database for the genus Rheinheimera and a whole genome sequencing -derived database.

Quickly identifying and characterizing isolates from extreme environments is currently challenging while very important to explore the Earth's biodiversity. As these isolates may, in principle, be distantly related to known species, techniques are needed to reliably identify the branch of life to which they belong.
