Proteome analysis of Pectobacterium atrosepticum cells and inhibition effect of exogeneous treatment with lactonase.


ABSTRACT: The proteome of Pectobacterium atrosepticum cells was established by shotgun proteomics and compared to the proteome of the same bacterium treated with exogeneous lactonase to characterize the molecular modifications induced by the treatment with a quorum sensing inhibitor.

<i>Pectobacterium atrosepticum</i> is a soft rot phytopathogenic bacterium mainly infecting potatoes. The virulence of <i>P. atrosepticum</i> is controlled by quorum sensing (QS), a communication mechanism which enables bacteria to coordinate their behavior in a population density-dependent manner.
