Project description:Mesorhizobium metallidurans STM 2683 and Mesorhizobium sp. strain STM 4661 were isolated from nodules of the metallicolous legume Anthyllis vulneraria from distant mining spoils. They tolerate unusually high zinc and cadmium concentrations as compared to other mesorhizobia. This work aims to study the gene expression profiles associated with zinc or cadmium exposure and to identify genes involved in metal tolerance in these two metallicolous Mesorhizobium strains of interest for mine phytostabilization purposes.

Project description:Heavy metals are essential integral parts of cells and environmental toxicants, whose deregulation is associated with severe cellular dysfunction and various diseases. The Hippo pathway plays a critical role in organ size control and cancer development. In this study, we use RNA-Seq to investigate the role of the Hippo pathway in regulating heavy metal response gene transcription. Specifically, the difference of transcriptional profiles between the wild-type and the Hippo pathway kinases LATS1/2-deficient HEK293A cells was examined under control- and heavy metals zinc and cadimuim treated-conditions.

Complete Genome Sequence of the Heavy-Metal-Tolerant Endophytic Type Strain of Salinicola tamaricis.

Project description:The first complete genome sequence of a recently described Salinicola tamaricis species was determined for the strain F01T (=CCTCC AB 2015304T =KCTC 42855T). The strain was isolated from the leaves of wetland plant Tamarix chinensis Lour and shows a high tolerance to heavy metals, such as manganese, nickel, lead, and copper ions.

<i>De novo</i> transcriptome assembly of heavy metal tolerant <i>Silene dioica</i>.

Project description:Silene dioica is a dioecious plant of the family Caryophyllaceae. In the present study, we used Illumina sequencing technology (MiSeq) to sequence, de novo assembly and annotate the transcriptomes of male and female copper tolerant S. dioica individuals. We sequenced the normalized mRNA of roots, shoots, flower buds and flowers for each sex. Raw reads of the transcriptome assembly project for S. dioica male and female individual have been deposited in NCBI's Sequence Read Archive (SRA) database with the accession number SRP094611. The Trinity and Detonate program was used to de novo assembly 92,347 transcripts for male and 94,757 transcripts for female transcriptome. The assembled transcriptome sequences for S. dioica male and female individuals can be accessed at NCBI with the following accession numbers: GFCG00000000 (male); GFCH00000000 (female). The obtained transcriptomic data will be useful for further studies focusing on copper tolerance, comparative transcriptome analysis with other Silene species and sex chromosomes evolution.
