CXCR3+ T cells in Multiple Sclerosis Correlate with Reduced Diversity of the Gut Microbiome
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: - Patients with MS exhibited decreased alpha diversity in the composition of their gut bacteria compared to healthy controls - Circulating lymphocytes from MS patients were enriched for Th1 (CXCR3+) and Th1-17 (CXCR3+ CCR6+) memory CD4+ cells and for CXCR5+ memory CD4+ cells - A higher proportion of CXCR3+ T-cells from MS patients co-expressed the gut homing receptor α4β7 compared to healthy controls Reduced alpha diversity correlated significantly with expression of CXCR3+ on CD8+ T-cells and CXCR5— memory T-cells.
