Project description:Evaluation of the diagnostic performance of PET / CT with 68Ga-DOTANOC in Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors with comparison with other techniques used in routine clinical practice (octreoscan ; multiphase SPECT / CT, MRI or endoscopy). Therapeutic impact and safety of PET / CT with 68Ga-DOTANOC will also be assessed. Expected results are a confirmation of the superiority of 68Ga-PET DOTANOC versus scintigraphy octreoscan , with a potential impact on the therapeutic management of patients.

Feasibility of Quality of Life Assessment in Routine Clinical Oncology Practice at the University Hospital of Besancon

Project description:Symptoms related to the disease and/or treatment are common in cancer patients and can affect patient health-related quality of life (HRQol). Unfortunately these symptoms can be underestimated and underreported by the physician. Measure of the HRQoL has been significantly developed in clinical trials and has become a key endpoint to assess clinical benefit of new therapeutic strategies and as prognostic factor of overall survival for several cancer as in women breast cancer, glioblastomas, metastatic colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. Moreover, a recent study conducted in patients receiving routine outpatient chemotherapy for advanced solid tumors showed that clinical benefits were associated with symptom self-reporting during cancer care, including the improvement of the overall survival. The aim of the QOLIBRY project is to introduce the collection of HRQoL of cancer patients in daily clinical practice in the University Hospital of Besançon. Indeed, the goal is to make the HRQoL data accessible and exploitable in real time to physician, to help medical professionals to optimize their practices by adopting a holistic and personalized approach based on the perception of the patients of their HRQoL and symptoms.

Project description:This series includes 278 microarrays used to detect respiratory viruses in a set of nasopharyngeal lavage specimens from children with respiratory tract infections Objective: To assess the utility of a pan-viral DNA microarray platform (Virochip) in the detection of viruses associated with pediatric respiratory tract infections. Study Design: The Virochip was compared to conventional clinical direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) and PCR-based testing for the detection of respiratory viruses in 278 consecutive nasopharyngeal aspirate samples from 222 children. Results: The Virochip was superior in performance to DFA, showing a 19% increase in the detection of 7 respiratory viruses included in standard DFA panels, and was similar to virus-specific PCR (sensitivity 85-90%, specificity 99%, PPV 94-96%, NPV 97-98%) in the detection of respiratory syncytial virus, influenza A, and rhino-/enteroviruses. The Virochip also detected viruses not routinely tested for or missed by DFA and PCR, as well as double infections and infections in critically ill patients that DFA failed to detect. Conclusions: Given its favorable sensitivity and specificity profile and greatly expanded spectrum of detection, microarray-based viral testing holds promise for clinical diagnosis of pediatric respiratory tract infections. CGH profiles of primary breast carcinomas from HBOC (Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer) families

Project description:89 tumors from women that were eligible for, and subjected to, routine diagnostic testing according to the HBOC criteria but were negative for pathogenic BRCA1/2-mutations or carried an UV in either BRCA1/2 A BRCA2-classifier was built using array-CGH profiles of 28 BRCA2-mutated and 28 sporadic breast tumors. The classifier was validated on an independent group of 19 BRCA2-mutated and 19 sporadic breast tumors. Subsequently, we tested 89 breast tumors from suspected hereditary breast (and ovarian) cancer (HBOC) families, in which either no BRCA1/2 mutation or an UV had been found by routine diagnostics.
