Project description:Origanum oil (ORO), garlic oil (GAO), and peppermint oil (PEO) were shown to effectively lower methane production, decrease abundance of methanogens, and change abundances of several bacterial populations important to feed digestion in vitro. In this study, the impact of these essential oils (EOs, at 0.50 g/L), on the rumen bacterial community composition was further examined using the recently developed RumenBactArray.
Project description:The aim of the study is to investigate the role and mechanisms of tuberous sclerosis complex 1 (TSC1) and mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) in alcohol associated liver disease Hepatic RNA profiles of WT and hepatic TSC1 KO mice fed with alcohol or control diet using Gao binge alcohol model.
Project description:To investigate the function of mitochondrial fission protein DRP1 in the development of alcoholic liver disease, we generated liver-specific Dnm1l KO mice using Alb-Cre/loxP system. These mice were subjected to Gao-Binge alcohol model. We then performed RNA sequensing analysis using the liver tissue. Gene expression profiling analysis was conducted using data obtained from RNA-seq of 4 different groups.
Project description:Space radiations and microgravity both could cause DNA damage in cells, but the effects of microgravity on DNA damage response to space radiations are still controversial.A mRNA microarray and microRNA microarray in dauer larvae of Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) that endured spaceflight environment and space radiations environment during 16.5-day Shenzhou-8 space mission was performed. The analyzation this study are further described in Gao, Y., Xu, D., Zhao, L., Zhang, M. and Sun, Y. (2015) Effects of microgravity on DNA damage response in Caenorhabditis elegans during Shenzhou-8 spaceflight. International journal of radiation biology, 91, 531-539.
