Project description:Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, a perennial herb, is an important medicinal plant that possesses broad pharmacological actions and contains flavonoids with good bioactivities such as anti-inflammation, anti-bacteria and anti-tumor. However, little is known on the molecular processes responsible for the medical properties of this species, owing to the absence of genomic resources such as available sequences of key enzyme genes in biosynthetic pathways. In this study, the RNA sequencing data of S. baicalensis were first generated and used for transcriptome analysis.
Project description:This study was designed to measure expressional profile induced by temporal treatment with Scutellaria baicalensis in HepG2 cells. Time-dependent expression of genes by treatment of Scutellaria baicalensis was measured on HepG2 cells. Total RNA was isolated and was subject to single channnel microarray.
Project description:This study examines whether maternal low ω6:ω3 ratio diet and offspring seaweed (SW) supplementation can improve offspring immunity and performance by elucidating the effects on piglet serum proteome. A total of 16 sows were given either a standard (CR, 13:1) or low ω6:ω3 ratio diet (LR, 4:1) during pregnancy and lactation and their male weaned piglets were supplemented with SW powder (4 g/kg, SW) or not (CT) in a 21-day post-weaning (PW) diet. Four PW piglet groups were then identified based on dam and piglet treatment, namely CRCT, CRSW, LRCT, and LRSW (n = 10 each). Piglet serum collected at weaning and d21 PW were analyzed (n = 5 each) using TMT-based quantitative proteomics and validated by appropriate assays.

Project description:Seaweeds, including the green Ulva lactuca, can potentially reduce competition between feed, food, and fuel. They can also contribute to the improved development of weaned piglets. However, their indigestible polysaccharides of the cell wall pose a challenge. This can be addressed through carbohydrase supplementation, such as the recombinant ulvan lyase. The objective of our study was to assess the muscle metabolism of weaned piglets fed with 7% U. lactuca and 0.01% ulvan lyase supplementation, using an integrated transcriptomics (RNA-seq) and proteomics (LC-MS) approach.
