Project description:During grazing, damaged cells of various diatom species release oxylipins whose functions include signaling to nearby undamaged cells. Our study focused on the effects of the oxylipin 2-trans, 4-trans-decadienal (DD) during the light cycle on photosynthetic light harvesting complex (LHC) mRNA regulation in Phaeodactylum tricornutum. RNAseq data revealed extensive suppression of LHC mRNAs measured at 3 h while a smaller set of LHC mRNAs were up-regulated. RNA metabolic labeling studies of divergently regulated Lhcf2 and Lhcf15 mRNAs documented dynamic shifts in their transcription and mRNA stabilities during the light cycle after DD treatment. The RNAseq dataset offers an extensive resource for expression profiling in the early response period to DD treatment.
