Project description:Transcriptional profiling between two different skeletal muscles (Longissimus and Semimembranosus) in pig The 90 pigs (females and barrows) used in gene expression analyses are part of a larger F2 population of 1,000 animals, setup within the framework of a QTL detection program. These animals were produced as a second generation intercross between two commercial sire lines (F016, Pietrain type line, and FH019, synthetic line from Hampshire, Duroc and Large-White founders, FRANCE-HYBRIDES, St Jean de Braye, France).

A transcriptome atlas of human skeletal muscles

Project description:We generated a large transcriptome atlas of human skeletal muscles by collecting biopsies from 6 different muscles to determine molecular signatures that may be distinct between leg muscles. The biopsies were collected from gracilis (GR), semitendinosus (ST), vastus lateralis (VL), vastus medialis (VM), rectus femoris (RF), and gastrocnemius lateralis (GL) muscles. We also investigated molecular differences within the muscle by including two biopsies from the middle and distal sides of the semitendinosus muscle (STM and STD, respectively). In total, 128 samples from 20 individuals (aged 25 Ã‚Â± 3.6 yr) were analyzed.

Development of an RNAseq-based oligonucleotide microarray to study global gene expression profile in the guinea pig animal model

Project description:In 2008 the GP genome was sequenced to a depth of ~7X full coverage, and last updated in 2010. However, because of the lack of cDNA and protein resources the GP genome is at present poorly annotated. Thus, in order to address this issue we performed an in-depth mRNA sequencing of the lung and skeletal muscles transcriptomes and used this to annotate the available GP genome for transcribed sequences. We then used this information to design and validate a custom Agilent microarray platform (GSE51601).
