Project description:Identification of chromosomal deletion and duplications in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia with t(12;21). This study was performed to correlate clinical parameters with chromosomal aberrations by array-CGH and to identify other potential novel cancer genes involved in leukaemia. In brief, PALL-6 was a Malay male diagnosed with B-ALL, had undergone a remission but late relapse and passed away. He was assessed under medium risk. PALL-7 is a Malay male and has a medium risk assessment, and is currently in remission. PALL-8 is a Malay female and has a medium risk assessment, and is currently in remission. PALL-9 is a Chinese male and has a high risk assessment, and is currently in remission. PALL-10 is a Malay male and has a standard risk assessment, had a relapse but is currently in remission. PALL-11 was a Malay male and had a medium risk assessment, but died during transplant.

Commercial male and female genomic DNA were used as the references.
Project description:The coordination of chloroplast and nuclear genome status are critical for plant cell function, but the mechanism remain largely unclear. In this study, we report that Arabidopsis thaliana CHLOROPLAST AND NUCLEUS DUAL-LOCALIZED PROTEIN 1 (CND1) maintains genome stability in both the chloroplast and the nucleus.

Project description:We will use high-throughput sequencing technology to study gene expression under NaCl treatment, screen for differential expressed genes, and then analyze the gene regulation features. Nitraria sibirica Pall. seedlings were treated by 0, 100 and 400 mM NaCl with 3 replicates, and the leaves were harvested after treated 3 days. Extracting total RNA of leaves and then sequencing by Illumina HiSeq 2000 sequencing platform. Our study provides a basis for the study of salt-tolerant gene resources in Nitraria sibirica Pall.
Project description:The regulator for chloroplast biogenesis (rcb) mutant was identified as a mutant defective in phytochrome-mediated chloroplast biogenesis. The rcb mutant has long hypocotyl and albino phenotypes. RCB initiates chloroplast biogenesis in the nucleus by promoting the degradation of the master repressors for chloroplast biogenesis, the PIFs (Phytochrome Interacting Factors). To understand how RCB regulates the expression of PIF-regulated genes, we performed genome-wide expression analysis of RCB-dependent genes using a rcb-10 null allele.
Project description:Here we found Rosa roxburghii fruit extracts effectively increase TERT expression and telomerase activity in cultured human mesenchymal stem cells. Both Rosa roxburghii fruit extracts by freeze drying and spray drying methods increase the activity of telomerase. Rosa roxburghii fruit freeze drying extracts is able to reduce reactive oxygen species levels, enhance SOD activity and resistance to oxidative stress, and reduce DNA damage caused by oxidative stress or radiation. Rosa roxburghii fruit extracts promoted cell proliferation, improved senescent cell morphology, delayed replicative cellular senescence, attenuated cell cycle supressors and alleviated the senescence-associated secretory phenotype. Transcriptome and metabolic profilings found that Rosa roxburghii fruit extract promote cell proliferation and DNA repair pathways, decreased triglycerides as well. Overall, we provided a theoretical basis for the application of Rosa roxburghii fruit as an anti-aging natural product.
