Project description:The mian goal of the study was to identify drought responsive genes of Indian mulberry (Morus alba L.) leaf tissue. Drought stress was imposed at whole plant leve; usig gravimetric approach. Leaf tissue was harvested 14 days post drought stress imposition and used for transcriptome analaysis. Two levels of drought stress (100% and 40% soil field capacity) was maintained by controlled irrigation. The leaf tissue was collected, total RNA was isolated converted to cDNA and used for analysis
Project description:Colonization of barley roots with the basidiomycete fungus Piriformospora indica enhances resistance against the leaf pathogen Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei (Bgh). To identify genes involved in this mycorrhiza-induced systemic resistance, we used the Affymetrix Barley1 22K gene chip for leaf transcriptome analysis of P. indica-colonized and non-colonized barley plants 12, 24 and 96 hours post inoculation (hpi) with a compatible Bgh strain.
Project description:Leaf mold disease caused by Cladosporium fulvum is a major disease in cultivated tomato plants and affects global tomato production. Some Cf genes, of which Cf-16 is an effective gene for resisting tomato leaf mold, are associated with leaf mold resistance; however, the molecular mechanism is largely unknown. We used comparative transcriptome analysis of C. fulvum-resistant (cv. Ontario7816, including the Cf-16 gene) and C. fulvum-susceptible (cv. Moneymaker) tomato lines to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) at 4 and 8 days postinfection with C. fulvum. Our results provide new insights into the resistance response mechanism of Cf genes to C. fulvum, especially the unique characteristics of Cf-16 in response to C. fulvum infection.
