Project description:In an unbiased transcriptomic screen we observed reduced NK cell activation phenotypes in HLA-B*46 positive people with HIV. These findings show that contemporaneous treated cohorts can be used to analyze host genetic effects in HIV disease, and support a role for NK cells in HIV control revealed by unique properties of the recombinant HLA-B*46 allele which is frequent only in Asia.

Effects of HLA DRB1*15:01 interactions with ⍺-syn32-46 on gene expression in the ileum

Project description:HLA DRB1*15:01 is overrepresentated in Parkinson's disease patients and binds with high affinity to the ⍺-synuclein peptide, 32-46. Immunization of humanized mice expressing HLA DRB1*15:01 with ⍺-syn32-46 induces enteric phenotypes similar to those of prodromal Parkinson's disease. We collected the ileum from HLA mice immunized with either Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA) with ⍺-syn32-46 or CFA alone, and sequenced the tissue with bulk RNA sequencing at 21 days post immunization to determine changes in gene expression.

Project description:This gene set contains skin fibroblasts from either labia majora of 46,XY sex reversed females having complete androgen insensitivity syndrome due to inactivation mutations of the androgen receptor gene and from the scrotum of normal males. Both, labia majora and scrotum origin from the same embryological anlagen, the labioscrotal swellings. The phenotypic difference is due to androgen dependent virilization in males. This is not possible in 46,XY patients with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome because the androgen receptor pathway is knocked out.
