Project description:These samples have been analyzed for global alternative splicing variation on exon-level expression data using the FIRMA algorithm. We have identified and described transcriptome instability as a genome-wide, pre-mRNA splicing related characteristic of solid cancers. This Series consists of 19 normal colonic mucosa samples from colorectal cancer patients, and is an amendment to a larger series of colorectal cancer and adjacent normal colonic mucosa samples analyzed for gene expression at the exon-level (GSE24550).

Recently, many probiotics such as bifidobacteria or lactobacilli have been introduced in our life as effective agents. However, we have not well understood their beneficial mechanisms including host-bacterial crosstalk To analyze the differences of gene expression between BA- or BL-associated murine colonic epithelium, we performed comparative transcriptomic analysis. Bifidobacterium adolescentis (BA)-associated mice and Bifidobacterium longum (BL)-associated mice were used. Colonic epithelium was isolated and gene expression profile was analyzed. Each 3 samples were analyzed.

Project description:Human Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterized by chronic colonic inflammation and has been associated with an increased risk of colorectal carcinoma. Gene and protein expression profiles of ABCB1/MDR1 have been shown to be dysregulated in UC and sporadic colorectal cancer. We demonstrated that in a murine model of colitis-associated tumorigenesis, MDR1A KO mice showed reduced tumor load when compared to wildtype (WT) mice. The aim of this study was to identify gene alterations in colitis-associated tumors in the context of MDR1A deficiency. We used microarrays to assess gene expression profiles of colitis-associated colonic tumors from WT or MDR1A KO mice.
