Interchromosomal interaction of homologous Stat92E alleles regulates transcriptional switch during stem-cell differentiation

ABSTRACT: Stat92E is required for germline stem cell (GSC) maintenance in the Drosophila testis, and therefore its expression must be quickly down-regulated in differentiating cells, immediately following asymmetric stem cell division. Using single molecule RNA FISH and OligoPaint DNA FISH, we look at both the mRNA expression and genomic locus of Stat92E to study the relationship between trans-chromosomal, locus-specific interaction and gene regulation.

ORGANISM(S): Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly)
