Alternative splicing in HeLa cells after sodium butyrate treatment


ABSTRACT: We analyzed a role of histone deacetylases in alternative splicing regulation. Using human exon arrays we identified a list of 683 genes whose splicing changes after HDAC inhibition with sodium butyrate. 6 samples (3 nontreated controls and 3 sodium butyrate treated cells)

There is increasing evidence to suggest that splicing decisions are largely made when the nascent RNA is still associated with chromatin. Here we demonstrate that activity of histone deacetylases (HDACs) influences splice site selection. Using splicing-sensitive microarrays, we identified ∼700 genes whose splicing was altered after HDAC inhibition.
