Transcription profiling of Drosophila Kc167 cells treaye with ecdysone and gamma irradiation to investigate ecdysone- and stress-induced expression profiles

ABSTRACT: Kc167 cells were mock-treated/treated with combinations of steroid hormone ecdysone and gamma-irradiation, and harvested. The expression profiles were determined using Affymetrix Drosophila Genechip 1 arrays. Comparisons between the sample groups allow the identification of genes with ecdysone- and/or radiation-responsive expression patterns. Experiment Overall Design: 1 set of control, ecdysone, gamma-irradiated, ecdysone + irradiated samples was analyzed.

ORGANISM(S): Drosophila melanogaster

p53 is a fundamental determinant of cancer susceptibility and other age-related pathologies. Similar to mammalian counterparts, Drosophila p53 integrates stress signals and elicits apoptotic responses that maintain genomic stability. To illuminate core-adaptive functions controlled by this gene family, we examined the Drosophila p53 regulatory network at a genomic scale. In development, the absence of p53 impacted constitutive expression for a surprisingly broad scope of genes. By contrast, stim  ...[more]
