<h4>Background</h4>Clinical trials have indicated a benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with stage IB, II, or IIIA--but not stage IA--non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This classification scheme is probably an imprecise predictor of the prognosis of an individual patient.
