Gene expression profiling of two Alexandrium genotypes as response to waterborne cues from grazing Polykrikos
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Two Alexandrium fundyense (former tamarense) genotypes with different lytic capacties were analyzed with respect to their response towards co-occuring protistan grazers (Polykrikos) grazing on conspecifics. One Alexandrium genotype was able to lyse the grazer whereas the other genotype completely lacks this ability. The difference in their genotypes resulted in the creation of different niches and in difference in their gene expression response.
ORGANISM(S): Alexandrium fundyense
