The chronic airway infections with <i>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</i> are the major co-morbidity in people with cystic fibrosis (CF). Within CF lungs, <i>P. aeruginosa</i> persists in the conducting airways together with human mucins as the most abundant structural component of its microenvironment.
