Isolation of Bartonella quintana from a woman and a cat following putative bite transmission.

ABSTRACT: We report here the detection of Bartonella quintana, after putative bite transmission, in pre-enrichment blood cultures from a woman and from two feral barn cats. Prospective molecular epidemiological studies are necessary to characterize the risk of human Bartonella quintana infection following cat bites.
