MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are in a class of endogenous, small, noncoding RNAs that exert their effects through posttranscriptional repression of specific target mRNAs. Although miRNAs have been implicated in the regulation of diverse biologic processes, little is known about miRNA function in the kidney.
