Project description:The rhodium-catalyzed transannulation of N-perfluoroalkyl-1,2,3-triazoles with aromatic and aliphatic terminal alkynes under microwave heating conditions afforded N-perfluoroalkyl-3,4-disubstituted pyrroles (major products) and N-fluoroalkyl-2,4-disubstituted pyrroles (minor products). The observed selectivities in the case of the reactions with aliphatic alkynes were high.

Project description:Readily available 1-mesyl-1,2,3-triazoles are efficiently converted into a variety of imidazolones and thiazoles by Rh(II)-catalyzed denitrogenative reactions with isocyanates and isothiocyanates, respectively. The proposed triazole-diazoimine equilibrium results in the formation of highly reactive azavinyl metal-carbenes, which react with heterocumulenes causing an apparent swap of 1,2,3-triazole core for another heterocycle.

Project description:A convenient one-pot asymmetric synthesis of 2,3-dihydropyrroles from in situ generated triflated triazoles and olefins is described that further expands the utility of azavinyl carbene chemistry and provides access to an important class of cyclic enamides. Mechanistic investigations support the involvement of triflated cyclopropylaldimine intermediates in the formation of 2,3-dihydropyrrole. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of a chiral Brønsted acid catalyzed rearrangement of cyclopropylimines into enantioenriched 2,3-dihydropyrroles.

Project description:An efficient diastereoselective rhodium catalyzed synthesis of indolines possessing two contiguous tetrasubstituted carbon centers has been achieved with good to excellent yields using ortho-vinylanilines and iminocarbenes derived from N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles. The reaction affords excellent cis-diastereoselectivity through the initial formation of a N-ylide followed by intramolecular trapping with unactivated alkenes via an ene-type reaction with a well-organized transition state, namely intramolecular carbenylative amination of alkenes. The developed transformation was further extended to the successful synthesis of tricyclic compounds, imidazoindolines, through reduction and hypervalent iodine mediated oxidative cyclization.

Iminophosphanes: Synthesis, Rhodium Complexes, and Ruthenium(II)-Catalyzed Hydration of Nitriles.

Project description:Highly stable iminophosphanes, obtained from alkylating nitriles and reaction of the resulting nitrilium ions with secondary phosphanes, were explored as tunable P-monodentate and 1,3-P,N bidentate ligands in rhodium complexes. X-ray crystal structures are reported for both κ1 and κ2 complexes with the counterion in one of them being an unusual anionic coordination polymer of silver triflate. The iminophosphane-based ruthenium(II)-catalyzed hydration of benzonitrile in 1,2-dimethoxyethane (180 °C, 3 h) and water (100 °C, 24 h) and under solvent free conditions (180 °C, 3 h) results in all cases in the selective formation of benzamide with yields of up to 96%, thereby outperforming by far the reactions in which the common 2-pyridyldiphenylphosphane is used as the 1,3-P,N ligand.
