ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(12)H(15)NO(2), the oxazole ring adopts an envelope conformation. Overall, the mol-ecule is approximately planar, the dihedral angle between the mean plane through all but the methyl-ene C atom of the five-membered ring and the aromatic ring being 8.6?(1)°. A weak C-H?O inter-action contributes to the stabilization of the crystal structure.

The oxazole ring makes a dihedral angle of 6.920?(1)° with the pyridyl ring in the 2-position and 60.960?(2)° with the pyridyl rings in the 4- and 5-positions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(22)N(2)O(3)S, the oxazoline ring is planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.045?Å) and forms dihedral angles of 47.24?(8) and 10.11?(8)° with the S- and C-bound phenyl rings, respectively. The nitro group lies to the same side of the mol-ecule as the oxazoline ring but is orientated so as not to inter-act with the ring. Linear supra-molecular chains along [010] are formed via C-H?O and C-H?S contacts. Chains are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture by C-H?? and van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:In the course of our studies of silicon-containing anti-cancer compounds, the title compound, C(18)H(19)NO(3)Si, was synthesized. The mol-ecular geometry including bond distances and angles involving the Si atoms are typical. Torsion angles associated with the isoindoline ring and the silyl group [C-N-C(methyl-ene)-Si = 90.5?(2) and -93.1?(2)°] indicate that there is no inter-action between the O and Si atoms despite silicon's high affinity for oxygen.
