Bis(tetra-methyl-amonium) bis-(2,4,5-carboxy-benzoate)-benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxylic acid (1/1).

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C(4)H(12)N(+)·2C(10)H(5)O(8) (-)·C(10)H(6)O(8), consists of a tetra-methyl-amonium cation, an anion derived from the singly deprotonated pyromellitic acid anion, 2,4,5-carboxy-benzoate (H(3)bta(-)), and one-half of a benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxylic acid (H(4)bta) mol-ecule, which has the centroid of the aromatic ring positioned at a crystallographic centre of inversion. The H(4)bta and H(3)bta(-) residues are involved in an extensive inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bonding network, which leads to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure containing one-dimensional channels running parallel to the [001] crystallographic direction. These channels house the tetra-methyl-amonium cations.

A variety of O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H⋯π inter-actions, are present in the crystal structure. Two water O atoms are each disordered over two positions; for both the site occupany factors are ca 0.66 and 0.34.

The basic framework of the title compound features infinite (-Na-Na-Mg-)(n) chains along [10-1] with the metal cations bridged by the coordinating water molecules. The chains are isolated from each other by ??-bridging btec ligands, which form inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds to uncoordinated water mol-ecules and the coordinated water mol-ecules of a neighbouring chain. In each btec ligand, there are also intramolecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The components of the title 1:1 co-crystal, C(14)H(10)N(4)·C(6)F(4)I(2), are connected via an N?I [2.959?(4)?Å] halogen bond, in which the N atom is part of the relatively electron-rich pyrazine ring. The C(6)F(4)I(2) mol-ecule is almost planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.038?Å] but there are significant twists in the pyrazine derivative, as seen in the dihedral angles [31.3?(2) and 54.6?(2)°] formed between the pendant pyridyl rings and the central pyrazine ring. The bimolecular aggregates are sustained in the crystal by C-H?F and ?-? inter-actions [ring centroid(pyrid-yl)-ring centroid(benzene) = 3.678?(3)?Å].

Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Mn(2)(C(10)H(2)O(8))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was obtained by the reaction of manganese(II) chloride tetra-hydrate with benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxylic acid (H(4)bta) in aqueous solution. Each Mn(2+) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four O atoms [Mn-O = 2.116?(2)-2.237?(2)?Å] from three bta(4-) ligands, which also act as bridging groups between the Mn(2+) ions.

Project description:The title compound, C(8)H(7)NO(4)S·H(2)O, was obtained by reaction of 2-mercaptopyridine-3-carboxylic acid with chloro-acetic acid. In the mol-ecular structure, the dihedral angle between the two least-squares planes defined by the pyridine ring and the carb-oxy group is 8.32?(9)°. The carboxy-methyl-sulfanyl group makes a torsion angle of 82.64?(12)° with the pyridine ring. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond between the acidic function of the carboxy-methyl-sulfanyl group and the pyridine N atom stabilizes the conformation, whereas inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding with the uncoordinated water mol-ecules is responsible for packing of the structure, leading to chains propagating in [001].

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Ag(4)(C(10)H(2)O(8))](n), the benzene ring has irregular bond lengths but remains planar (r.m.s. deviation 0.0002 Å). The Ag-O bond lengths are in the range 2.153 (3)-2.615 (4) Å. The carboxyl-ate groups are oriented at dihedral angles of 26.4 (5) and 74.9 (4)° to the benzene ring. The coordination behaviour of each carboxyl-ate O atom is different: in one carboxylate, the O atoms are coordinated to a single and two Ag atoms; in the other carboxylate, the O atoms are coordinated to two and three Ag atoms. Non-classical inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure. The title compound forms a three-dimensional polymeric network due to the coordination of the Ag atoms.
