ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title hydrated molecular salt, 2C(3)H(12)N(2) (2+)·C(10)H(2)O(8) (4-)·2H(2)O, the packing is stabilized by extensive N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving all three species, forming a supra-molecular three-dimensional structure. The tetraanion is generated by inversion.

Project description:The reaction of propane-1,2-diamine (pn) and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (pydcH(2)) in a 1:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution resulted in the formation of the title compound, C(3)H(12)N(2) (2+)·2C(7)H(4)NO(4)·2H(2)O or (pnH(2))(pydcH)(2)·2H(2)O. The structure contains two monoanionic deprotonated forms of pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid molecules (pydcH)(-), a diprotonated propane-1,2-diamine (pnH(2))(2+), and two water mol-ecules. A significant ?-? stacking inter-action is observed between the pyridyl rings of the (pydcH)(-) fragments, with a face-to-face distance of 3.6194?(9)?Å. In the crystal structure, a wide range of non-covalent inter-actions consisting of ion pairing, hydrogen bonding [of the types of O-H?O, N-H?O, N-H?N and C-H?O, with D?A distances in the range 2.454?(2)-3.222?(2)Å] and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6194?(9)?Å] connect the components into a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, 2C(4)H(12)N(2) (2+)·C(10)H(2)O(8) (4-)·6H(2)O or (pipzH(2))(2)(btc)·6H(2)O, was formed from the reaction between benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxylic acid (btcH(4)) as a proton donor and piperazine (pipz) as a proton acceptor. A variety of O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H?? inter-actions, are present in the crystal structure. Two water O atoms are each disordered over two positions; for both the site occupany factors are ca 0.66 and 0.34.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[MgNa?(C??H?O?)?(H?O)?]·2H?O}(n), contains one octa-hedrally coordin-ated Mg(II) atom (site symmetry 2/m), one octahedrally coordinated Na(I) atom (site symmetry 2) and one half of the dihydrogen benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate (btec) ligand, the second half of the ligand being generated by a twofold rotation axis. The basic framework of the title compound features infinite (-Na-Na-Mg-)(n) chains along [10-1] with the metal cations bridged by the coordinating water molecules. The chains are isolated from each other by ??-bridging btec ligands, which form inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds to uncoordinated water mol-ecules and the coordinated water mol-ecules of a neighbouring chain. In each btec ligand, there are also intramolecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:During the crystallization of the title compound, 4C(3)H(5)N(2) (+)·C(4)H(12)N(2) (+)·2C(9)H(3)O(6) (3-)·2H(2)O, the acidic protons were transferred to the imidazole and piperazine N atoms, forming the final 4:1:2:2 hydrated mixed salt. The mean planes of the three carboxyl-ate groups in the anion are twisted with respect to the the central benzene ring, making dihedral angles of 13.5?(1), 14.5?(1) and 16.9?(1)°. In the crystal, the component ions are linked into a three-dimensional network by a combination of inter-molecular N-H?O, O-H?O and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds. Further stabilization is provided by ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.393?(2)?Å and weak C=O?? inter-actions [O-centroid = 3.363?(2)?Å].

Project description:The title organic salt, 6C(3)H(10)N(+)·C(10)H(2)O(8) (4-)·C(10)H(4)O(8) (2-)·4H(2)O, contains seven independent entities in the asymmetric unit which comprises three propyl-ammonium cations, two water mol-ecules, half a 2,5-dicarb-oxy-benzene-1,4-carboxyl-ate dianion (H(2)btc(2-)) and half a benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate tetra-anion (btc(4-)), the latter two anions being located about centres of inversion. One of the water mol-ecules is disordered over two positions in a 0.55?(2):0.45?(2) ratio. The combination of mol-ecular ions and water mol-ecules results in an extensive and complex three-dimensional network of hydrogen bonds, the network being made up of nine unique N-H?O inter-actions between the ammonium cations and the anions, as well as four unique O-H?O inter-actions between the water mol-ecules and the anions.
