ABSTRACT: In the title mononuclear complex, [Cd(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Cd(II) atom possesses crystallographically imposed C(2) site symmetry, and is coordinated by four O atoms from two 4-methyl-benzoate ligands and two water mol-ecules, displaying a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The molecules are assembled via inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions into a supra-molecular architecture.

The mol-ecule contains two 4-methyl-amino-benzoate (MAB) and two nicotinamide (NA) ligands and two coordinated water mol-ecules, all ligands being monodentate. The four O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Ni atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, while the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination is completed by the two N atoms of the NA ligands in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the adjacent benzene ring is 2.09 (14)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 66.15 (4)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)], the Cd(II) atom is coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two bidentate chelating 4-methyl-benzoate ligands, two N atoms from two imidazole ligands and one water mol-ecule in a distorted penta-gonal bipyramidal geometry. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecule and the carboxyl-ate O atoms of 4-methyl-benzoate lead to an infinite chain. These chains are further self-assembled into a two-dimensional layer through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the imidazole ligands and carboxyl-ate groups. One of the imidazole ligands is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.737 (4) and 0.263 (4).

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(5)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Ni(II) atom lies on an inversion centre and exhibits a square-planar geometry incorporating two phthalate and two water O atoms. The nickel complex is stabilized by intra-molecular inter-actions involving water O atoms and H atoms of the phthalate groups. It forms one-dimensional zigzag chains along the b axis which are held together via π-π stacking inter-actions (3.647 Å) between the benzene rings of the phthalate groups. The adjacent chains are also hydrogen bonded, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

The inter-nal cohesion of the mol-ecule is enhanced by an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π contacts [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6549 (2) Å] define two-dimensional networks parallel to (001), which are further connected by weaker C-H⋯O inter-actions into a weakly connected three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

There is also a C-H⋯π inter-action.

The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the adjacent benzene ring is 8.95 (8)°, while the pyridine ring and the benzene ring are oriented at a dihedral angle of 75.01 (7)°. The water mol-ecule links the adjacent carboxyl-ate O atom via an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π stacking between parallel pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7287 (11) Å] is also observed.

A weak C-H⋯π inter-action also occurs.
