2-(2,3,5,6-Tetra-fluoro-4-iodo-anilino)-ethanol.

ABSTRACT: The reaction of 2-amino-ethanol and iodo-penta-fluoro-benzene in the presence of K(2)CO(3) gave the title compound, C(8)H(6)F(4)INO, in high yield. The structure is characterized by double layers of mol-ecules linked by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, and linear C-I?F [I?F = 3.049?(2)?Å] and bent C-I?I [I?I = 3.9388?(7)?Å] inter-actions between pairs of nearly parallel iodo-tetra-fluoro-phenyl groups. No O?I or N?I halogen bonding is found.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(C8F4O4)(C2H5OH)2] n , the Cd(II) cation sits on an inversion centre and is coordinated by six O atoms from four tetra-fluoro-benzene-1,4-di-carboxyl-ate anions and two ethanol mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The anionic ligand is also located on an inversion centre, and connects four Cd(II) cations, generating a two-dimensional polymeric layer parallel to the ab plane. Within the layer, the ethanol mol-ecule links F and O atoms of the nearest anionic ligands via O-H?O and O-H?F hydrogen bonds. The ethyl group of the ethanol mol-ecule is disordered over two positions with an occupancy ratio of 0.567?(10):0.433?(10).

Project description:The title compound, C25H18F4P(+)·Br(-)·C2F4I2, is a 1:1 co-crystal of triphen-yl(2,3,5,6-tetra-fluoro-benz-yl)phospho-nium (TTPB) bromide and 1,1,2,2-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-ethane (TFDIE). The crystal structure consists of a framework of TTPB cations held together by C-H?Br inter-actions. In this framework, infinite channels along [100] are filled by TFDIE mol-ecules held together in infinite ribbons by short F?F [2.863?(2)-2.901?(2)Å] inter-actions. The structure contains halogen bonds (XB) and hydrogen bonds (HB) in the bromide coordination sphere. TFDIE functions as a monodentate XB donor as only one I atom is linked to the Br(-) anion and forms a short and directional inter-action [I?Br(-) 3.1798?(7)?Å and C-I?Br(-) 177.76?(5)°]. The coordination sphere of the bromide anion is completed by two short HBs of about 2.8?Å (for H?Br) with the acidic methyl-ene H atoms and two longer HBs of about 3.0?Å with H atoms of the phenyl rings. Surprisingly neither the second iodine atom of TFDIE nor the H atom on the tetra-fluoro-phenyl group make any short contacts.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(C44H28N4)(C6HF4O)], is a porphyrin complex with iron(III) in fivefold coordination with a tetra-fluoro-phenolate group as the axial ligand. The Fe atom and the phenolate ligand are disordered across the porphyrin ring with the two phenolates appearing to be roughly related by a center of symmetry. The occupancies of the two phenolate groups refined to 0.788?(3) for the major component and 0.212?(3) for the minor component. The structure shows extraordinary Fe displacements of 0.488?(4) (major) and 0.673?(4)?Å (minor) from the 24-atom mean plane of the porphyrin. The Fe-Np distances range from 2.063?(4) to 2.187?(6)?Å and the Fe-O distances are 1.903?(5)?Å for major component and 1.87?(2)?Å for minor component. The four phenyl groups attached to the porphyrin ring form dihedral angles of 63.4?(4), 49.6?(4), 62.4?(4), and 63.3?(4)° (in increasing numerical order) with the three nearest C atoms of the porphyrin ring. The major and minor component phenolate groups form dihedral angles of 24.9?(4)° and 24.8?(4)°, respectively, with the four porphyrin N atoms. The Fe?Fe distance between the two iron(III) atoms of adjacent porphyrin mol-ecules is 6.677?(3)?Å. No close inter-molecular inter-action was observed. The crystal studied was twinned by inversion, with a major-minor component ratio of 0.53?(3):0.47?(3).

In the structure, the cation is hosted in a cavity formed by the arms of the podand which presents a closed conformation wherein two tetra-fluoro-iodo-benzene rings are near parallel [dihedral angle = 15.8?(4)°; centroid-centroid distance = 3.908?(5)?Å] and the third ring is closer to orthogonal [dihedral angles = 66.28?(14) and 75.20?(19)°] to the other two rings. The coordination sphere of the K(+) cation is composed of the six O atoms, the N atom and an F atom in the ortho position of one of the rings.

Project description:The title compound, C13H4BrF4N, synthesized from 1,4'-bromo-iodo-benzene and 4-bromo-2,3,5,6-tetra-fluoro-benzo-nitrile in a coupling reaction was found to crystallize in the ortho-rhom-bic space group P212121. The two phenyl rings are rotated with respect to each other by 40.6?(6)°. The mol-ecules inter-act via aryl-perfluoroaryl stacking [3.796?(2) and 3.773?(2)?Å], resulting in inter-molecular chains along the a-axis direction. C-H?F contacts of about 2.45?Å connect these chains. In contrast to the structure of the parent compound 4'-bromo-biphenyl-4-carbo-nitrile, CN?Br contacts that could have given rise to a linear arrangement of the biphenyl mol-ecules desirable for non-linear optical (NLO) materials are not observed in the packing. Instead, several Br?F [3.2405?(17) and 3.2777?(18)?Å] and F?F [2.894?(2)?Å] contacts of side-on type II form an inter-molecular network of zigzag chains. The crystal studied was refined as an inversion twin.

Project description:Equimolar qu-anti-ties of tetra-ethyl-ammonium chloride (Et4NCl) and 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene (o-DITFB or o-C6F4I2) have been co-crystallized in a solution of di-chloro-methane yielding a pure halogen-bonded compound, 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene-tetra-ethyl ammonium chloride (2/1), Et4N(+)·Cl(-)·2C6F4I2, in the form of translucent needles. [(Et4NCl)(o-C6F4I2)2] packs in the C2/c space group. The asymmetric unit includes one mol-ecule of DITFB, one Et4N(+) cation located on a twofold rotation axis, and one chloride anion also located on a twofold rotation symmetry axis. This compound has an inter-esting halogen-bonding environment surrounding the halide. Here, the chloride anion acts as a tetra-dentate halogen bond acceptor and forms a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with I?Cl(-)?I angles of 80.891?(6) and 78.811?(11)°, where two crystallographically distinct iodine atoms form halogen bonds with the chloride anion. Resulting from that square-pyramidal geometry are short contacts between some of the adjacent F atoms. Along the b axis, the halogen-bonding inter-action results in a polymeric network, producing a sheet in which the two closest chloride ions are 7.8931?(6)?Å apart. The Et4N(+) cation alternates in columns with the halide ion. The expected short contacts (shorter than the sum of their van der Waals radii) are observed for the halogen bonds [3.2191?(2) and 3.2968?(2)?Å], as well as almost linear angles [170.953?(6) and 173.529?(6)°].
