2-Anilino-4,6-dimethyl-pyrimidinium chloro-acetate.

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(12)H(14)N(3) (+)·C(2)H(2)ClO(2) (-), the chloro-acetate anion is linked to the N-(4,6-dimethyl-pyrimidin-2-yl)aniline cation by N-H?O hydrogen bonding. Within the cation, the pyrimidine ring is twisted with respect to the phenyl ring by a dihedral angle of 7.59?(4)°.

The dioxane ring has a half-boat conformation, in which the C atom between the dioxane O atoms is 0.662?(4)Å out of the plane through the remaining ring atoms. The carboxyl-ate group of the 3,5-dinitro-benzoate anion inter-acts with the protonated pyrimidine N atom and the 2-amino group through a pair of N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming an R(2) (2)(8) motif. Two inversion-related pyrimidine rings are linked via a pair of N-H?N hydrogen bonds, also forming an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif.
