In mammalian cells, the 'Golgi reassembly and stacking protein' (GRASP) family has been implicated in Golgi stacking, but the broader functions of GRASP proteins are still unclear. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae contains a single non-essential GRASP homolog called Grh1.
