ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(26)H(20)N(2), first reported in 1891, was obtained as a by-product in the preparation of benzildianil from benzil and excess aniline. The dihedral angles between the fused benzene ring and the pendant phenyl rings are 17.93?(11), 53.18?(10) and 89.08?(12)°.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(30)H(24)N(4)O(2)S, the dihydro-quinoxaline fused-ring system is disordered over three orientations in a 0.358 (2):0.318 (3):0.324 (3) ratio; the mean planes of the non-H atoms of the disorder components are aligned at 4.0 (3), 11.8 (4) and 41.7 (2)° with respect to the pyrazole ring. The rings of the phenyl and tolyl substituents are aligned at 64.0 (1) and 43.7 (1)° with respect to the pyrazole ring. Weak intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding links the mol-ecules, forming supra-molecular chains running along the a axis.

Project description:The title compound, C12H8N2O2, was prepared by the reaction of the diethyl ester of naphthalene-bis-(oxamate) with tert-BuNH2. The mol-ecule is nearly planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.017?Å from the plane through all 16 non-H atoms. In the crystal, a three-dimensional network is formed, composed of layers of mol-ecules along the b- and c-axis directions, due to the formation of inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, as well as of chains along the a-axis direction due to parallel displaced sandwich-type ?-? inter-actions with average distances between the inter-acting mol-ecules in the range 3.35-3.40?Å.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(12)H(11)NS, features parallel chains of alternating N-H⋯S hydrogen-bonded mirror-image conformers along [10[Formula: see text]]. The mol-ecular conformation is that of an envelope, with all of the framework atoms except one close to a mean plane (rms deviation 0.054 Å); one C atom of the cyclo-hexene-thione ring forms the envelope flap, which makes a dihedral angle of 48.6 (1)° with the rest of the mol-ecule. There is a π-π* inter-action between pairs of enanti-omers in adjacent chains; the distance between parallel planes is 3.466 (1) Å.

Project description:All non-H atoms of the title compound, C(6)H(7)N(3)OS, which exists in the thione form, lie in a common plane (r.m.s. of non-H atoms = 0.08 Å). The amino group of the -NH-NH(2) substituent forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the S atom. The terminal -NH(2) group is pyramidally coordinated; it forms a weak N-H⋯O and a weak N-H⋯S hydrogen bond. Furthermore, the N atom is an acceptor for a C-H⋯N contact. The amino group of the ring is a hydrogen-bond donor to the carbonyl O atom of an adjacent mol-ecule, this inter-action giving rise to a linear chain motif running along the b axis.

The Dewar Isomer of 1,2-Dihydro-1,2-azaborinines: Isolation, Fragmentation, and Energy Storage.

Project description:The photochemistry of 1,2-dihydro-1,2-azaborinine derivatives was studied under matrix isolation conditions and in solution. Photoisomerization occurs exclusively to the Dewar valence isomers upon irradiation with UV light (>280?nm) with high quantum yield (46?%). Further photolysis with UV light (254?nm) results in the formation of cyclobutadiene and an iminoborane derivative. The thermal electrocyclic ring-opening reaction of the Dewar valence isomer back to the 1,2-dihydro-1-tert-butyldimethylsilyl-2-mesityl-1,2-azaborinine has an activation barrier of (27.0±1.2)?kcal?mol-1 . In the presence of the Wilkinson catalyst, the ring opening occurs rapidly and exothermically (?H=(-48±1)?kcal?mol-1 ) at room temperature.

Project description:The title compound, C(26)H(34)NSi(2) (+)·Cl(-), shows chirality at silicon. Because of its highly selective synthesis with an e.r. of >99:1 by means of a racemic resolution with mandelic acid, the free disilane is of great importance to the chemistry of highly enanti-omerically enriched lithio-silanes and their trapping products. N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding is present between the protonated nitro-gen atom of the piperidino group and the chloride counter-anion. The silicon-silicon distance as well as silicon-carbon and carbon-nitro-gen bond lengths are in the same ranges as in other quaternary, functionalized di- and tetra-silanes.

Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C32H24N3OS)], both the thia-zolidine ring and the pyrrolidine ring adopt an envelope conformation, with the S atom and the phenyl-bearing C atom, respectively, as the flaps. The thia-zolidine ring mean plane makes a dihedral angle of 59.08?(11)° with the pyrrolidine ring mean plane, which in turn makes a dihedral angle of 83.40?(10)° with the cyclo-pentane ring, indicating that the latter two rings are almost orthogonal to one another. In the crystal, a pair of C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules forming inversion dimers. The dimers are linked via ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7764?(10)?Å] involving the quinoxaline moieties forming chains propagating along [1-10].
