ABSTRACT: In the structure of the title compound, C(7)H(7)IN(2)O, the hydrazide group is inclined at 13.3?(3)° with respect to the benzene ring. The structure is stabilized by inter-molecular N-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the hydrazide group, resulting in six- and ten-membered rings with R(2) (2)(6) and R(2) (2)(10) graph-set notations, respectively.

The mol-ecule displays trans and anti conformations about the C=N and N-N bonds, respectively. There is an intra-molecular O-H⋯N(azomethine) hydrogen bond. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds consolidate mol-ecules into a three-dimensional architecture.

Project description:In the title compound, C15H14IN3O2·CH3OH, two aromatic rings are linked by an N-substituted hydrazide function. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 10.53?(8)°. The stereochemistry about the imine function is E. The methanol mol-ecule forms an O-H?O hydrogen bond to the hydrazide O atom. In the crystal, chains of mol-ecules running along the c-axis direction are formed by O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Adjacent chains are linked through N-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions. The inter-molecular inter-actions in the crystal packing were investigated using Hirshfeld surface analysis, which indicated that the most significant contacts are H?H (38.2%), followed by C?H/H?C (20.6%), O?H/H?O (11.1%) and I?H/H?I (9.7%).

Project description:The title compounds, 2-iodo-benzamide, C7H6INO (I), and 2-iodo-N-phenyl-benzamide, C13H10INO (II), were both synthesized from 2-iodo-benzoic acid. In the crystal structure of (I), N-H⋯O and hydrogen bonds form two sets of closed rings, generating dimers and tetra-mers. These combine with C-I⋯π(ring) halogen bonds to form sheets of mol-ecules in the bc plane. For (II), N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form chains along the a-axis direction, while inversion-related C-I⋯π(ring) contacts supported by C-H⋯π(ring) interactions generate sheets of mol-ecules along the ab diagonal.

The amino H atoms form inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds with the O atoms of two adjacent mol-ecules, resulting in 10-membered rings of graph-set motif R(2) (2)(10).
