ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(22)H(20)N(2)O, the central aromatic ring forms dihedral angles of 45.30?(2) and 69.43?(2)°, respectively, with the outer pyridine and benzene rings. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into layers parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The non-symmetric title mol-ecule, C32H34N2O5, is based on a tetra-substituted ethyl-enedi-amine backbone. The mol-ecular structure consists of three hy-droxy-benzyl groups and one 2-hy-droxy-5-methyl-benzaldehyde group bonded to the N atoms of the di-amine unit. The ethyl-enedi-amine skeleton shows a regular extended conformation, while the spatial orientation of the phenol arms is governed by hydrogen bonds. In the 2-hy-droxy-5-methyl-benzaldehyde group, an intra-molecular S(6) O-H?O hydrogen bond is observed between the alcohol and aldehyde functions, and the neighbouring phenol arm participates in an intra-molecular S(6) O-H?N hydrogen bond. The third phenol group is involved in a bifurcated intra-molecular hydrogen bond with graph-set notation S(6) for O-H?N and O-H?O intra-molecular hydrogen bonds between neighbouring amine and phenol arms, respectively. Finally, the fourth phenol group acts as an acceptor in a bifurcated intra-molecular hydrogen bond and also acts as donor in an inter-molecular hydrogen bond, which connects inversion-related mol-ecules into dimers with R 4 (4)(8) ring motifs.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(26)H(22)N(4)S, is composed of three main parts, viz. a triphenyl-amine group is connected to a phenyl ring by a thio-semicarbazone moiety. The C= N double bond has an E conformation. The crystal packing is dominated by strong hydrogen bonds through the thio-semicarbazone moiety, with pairs of N-H?S hydrogen bonds linking the mol-ecules to form inversion dimers with an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif. An intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bond is also present, generating an S(5) ring motif. Although the structure contains four phenyl rings, ?-? stacking inter-actions are not formed between them, probably due to the conformation adopted by the triphenyl-amine group. However, a weak ?-? stacking inter-action is observed between the phenyl ring and the delocalized thio-semicarbazone moiety.

In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into chains along [010] via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The presence of π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6244 (12) Å] further stabilizes the crystal structure.
